Important Safety Notice — C1500 Platinum Modular SATA Power Cable (U.S. Market)

NZXT has identified a wiring issue affecting a single production batch of the modular SATA Power cable shipped with select C1500 Platinum (PA-5P1BB-US) power supplies. In the affected cables, the 12V and 3.3V conductors were reversed by the supplier during assembly.

This issue is isolated to units sold in the U.S. market. Units sold in other regions are not affected. If you purchased your C1500 Platinum in the U.S. and have since moved or resold it, please still check the serial number below. We will help any owner of an affected unit regardless of their current location. We have also worked with our supplier and further optimized the production process in order to prevent future occurrences from happening.

Is my unit affected?

Approximately 400 units may have reached customers.

Please check the serial number on the label affixed to your C1500 Platinum:

  • Model: PA-5P1BB-US
  • Affected serial range: [52258Z0280 0001~52258Z0280 1500]
  • Date code: [08/2025]

If your serial number falls outside this range, no action is needed. If your serial number falls within the affected range, please contact us even if you are no longer located in the United States.

What is the risk?

The SATA power standard uses three voltage rails: 3.3V, 5V, and 12V. With 12V and 3.3V reversed on the affected cables:

  • Most modern SATA devices (SSDs, HDDs, optical drives) do not use the 3.3V rail and are unlikely to be affected.
  • Devices that rely on the 12V rail will receive 3.3V instead and simply will not power on.
  • In rare cases involving legacy or specialty devices that do use the 3.3V rail, delivering 12V where 3.3V is expected could damage the connected device.

We have received no reports of injury or PSU damage related to this issue, but out of an abundance of caution we are asking affected customers to stop using the cables immediately.

What to do if your unit is affected

  1. Stop using the modular SATA Power cable that shipped with your C1500 Platinum. Other cables included with the PSU (24-pin, EPS, PCIe, etc.) are not affected.
  2. Do not attempt to rewire or repair the cable. Cut the cable in half and dispose of it to prevent reuse.
  3. Contact NZXT Customer Support by visiting https://nzxt.com/pages/support and submit a ticket. You will be asked to provide your serial number and proof of purchase. Upon confirmation that your cables are affected, we will ship replacement SATA power cables at no cost. Customers outside the United States with an affected unit should still contact us and we will work with you on a replacement.

The PSU itself is safe to continue using with the other included cables. The issue is isolated to the SATA power cable only.

We apologize for the inconvenience and appreciate your help in ensuring every affected cable is removed from service. Customer safety and product quality are our top priorities.
